DEFINITION OF TERMS USED WITH THE Ergo Romanian SPECIFICATION
 

QWERTY -- the US keyboard standard.

QWERTZ -- the German keyboard standard.

ASRO -- the Romanian Standards Association, Bucharest, Romania.

ISO -- International Organization for Standardization.

Ăă, Ââ, Îî, Şş, Ţţ -- the five Romanian alphabetic diacritic characters, shown here in both uppercase and lowercase.

AltGr -- the AltGr key is the Alt key to the right of the spacebar. AltGr means "Alt Graphic". The behavior of the AltGr key is identical to pressing Ctrl + Alt.

Base Letter -- Diacritic letters are compound letters, letter + diacritic. We call the letter part of a diacritic letter its base letter. For example, the base letter of Ă is A.

Non-Romanian Letter -- A QWERTY alphabetic character that is not part of core Romanian, or that has been added to the Romanian alphabet through importing of foreign words. The non-Romanian letters are K, Q, X, Y, and W.

Shift State -- A keyboard state when modifier keys (like Shift, Ctrl, Alt) are pressed.
